Description: This species is an endemic of northern Borneo (Sabah) where it grows primarily on ultramafic soils. It is a close relative of N. hirsute but can be distinguished readily by its pitcher coloration and leaf shape. The pitchers can reach over 20 cm in length and are usually spotted with red and have a yellow/red striped peristome.
Cultivation recommendations:A lowland plant requiring warm humid conditions. Some varieties of this species occur at intermediate elevations (1000 m) but these can also be treated as lowland plants. See also: How to Grow Nepenthes
